Richard is an economist with extensive consulting experience in banking and government. He has an established track record in banking systems, financial analysis, policy analysis, economics, project management, mathematical, statistical, financial and business modelling and major project and change exercises.

Offering a foundation in economics, econometrics and statistical analysis, Richard is an experienced senior manager who provides a strategic focus to his projects. He is adept at entering an organisation and quickly identifying the salient issues, applying a critical mindset to determine the best means to achieving a solution that’s right for the client. Underpinning his approach is years of experience working at executive team level, the ability to engage key personnel and to ensure the appropriate blend of data and information within the organisational setting is fully utilised. Richard is skilled at navigating complex policy and operational initiatives, organising resources and working collaboratively with wide ranging groups to lead teams to deliver a suitable outcome for clients.

Richard's most recent assignment has been working with the Central Bank in Papua New Guinea, along with the four Commercial Banks, the Tax Office, Customs and Department of Finance, to implement a modern, electronic National Payments System. Once completed this will bring PNG's financial system to a standard enjoyed by other developed countries.

Richard has also been involved in a number of capital intensive business cases which included funding options such as bidding for new funding or funding internally (e.g. from accumulated depreciation) for both capital and associated operational expenditure. Coupled to this he developed an Asset Management Strategy for the Department of Corrections.

Richard has worked with Bank of Papua New Guinea, National Bank of New Zealand, BNZ, MAF, Public Trust, Reserve Bank of New Zealand, Bank of England, Treasury, Department of Corrections, Department for Courts, Ministry of Defence, New Zealand Qualifications Authority and New Zealand Fire Service.

He holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Economics / Econometrics, Operations Research, Mathematics and Statistics from University of Canterbury and a masters qualification in Mathematical Statistics from Victoria University of Wellington.

In his own time, Richard exercises himself and his daughters' dogs with brisk walks at the parks and green spaces of his beloved windy city, and enjoys casting for trout in the Tongariro.
