Richard is a statistician and analyst, with strong forecasting and modelling skills honed from a variety of roles in the public sector.

As a forecasting and modelling analyst, Richard carried out analysis and financial modelling within the Ministry of Education that informed projections and trends across the entire scope of the Ministry's work. Further research duties broadened understanding of factors affecting spending.

At the Ministry of Health, Richard delivered financial modelling, analysis and forecasting related to capital expenditure and reporting, to support the Ministry's fiscal reporting responsibilities to Treasury and the government sector.

Richard has had a number of roles at Department of Corrections. He has extensive knowledge of capital asset management in his acting role as Manager Capital Strategy and Planning, including responsibility for the Department's capital investment plan. This has involved development of a 10 year forecasting and reporting model for the capital investment plan that enabled a balanced and affordable plan. He also worked on the Capital Investment Framework and contributed to the Asset Management Strategy. Richard's project accounting experience has required him to contribute to various business cases for prison development and redevelopment. He has built strong relationships across a number of justice-related agencies and core to his role as a business analyst, demonstrated ability in complex analysis, modelling and forecasting.

Richard developed a solid understanding of data collection and extraction during his employment with the Department of Statistics, and has broad knowledge of a range of databases and sources of information that can be mined. Responsibilities included identifying, collecting, collating and analysing data to inform Overseas Trade and Balance of Payments-related reporting, with the insights and expertise gained enabling him to further improve and extend the financial data collection.

Complementing his breadth of data collection, analysis, modelling and forecasting talent, Richard offers interpersonal qualities that enable him to work collegially and successfully alongside peers and colleagues, and he has been tasked with a range of roles including manager, trainer, workplace representative and consultant.

He is a competent or advanced user of a number of software packages including the Microsoft Office suite, SAP Financial System and CFIS.

Richard enjoys a mix of indoor and outdoor pursuits, and combines his love of the outdoors with an interest in hunting. Closer to home his bookshelves are well stocked with the greats - both modern and classics.
