Michelle is a Project Accountant with a background in management reporting, business strategic planning and statutory and taxation compliance for privately held businesses. She is experienced in project management and is a skilled financial systems practitioner, having worked as a Systems Accountant in the banking industry for a number of years.
She began her career as a graduate accountant at IBM New Zealand Limited. From there, she developed a strong interest in understanding the workings of a large FMIS system and how the financial data flowed from the source systems to the end users. After qualifying, she moved into the banking industry and gained extensive experience as a Systems Accountant acting as a 'go-between' for the IT developers and business stakeholders. She worked in Financial Systems Development Projects at BNZ, ANZ and Credit Suisse in London.
More recently, she has worked as a Project Accountant on the Department of Corrections' Auckland East Redevelopment Project, which is part of the Department's ongoing prison configuration work programme. She has also worked as a Management Accountant in a privately held business in the health sector. Apart from operational management reporting and taxation compliance, she has offered advice on business structuring including purchase negotiations, exit planning and remuneration planning.
Michelle is analytical and process minded, and understands how to communicate effectively within the business. She has the ability to critique a business process and recommend improvements to a wide range of business stakeholders. She also possesses a 'can-do' approach, and a hands-on willingness to do what needs to be done.
Michelle holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration from Victoria University of Wellington, and is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants.
Outside the office, Michelle loves spending quality time with her family and friends. She is a keen spectator at her children's various sporting events and enjoys co-coaching her daughter's netball team. She also enjoys tennis, cooking and travel.
